Legal notice
Last updated: 22 September 2026
1. Site owner
The following identifying details are published in compliance with our duty to inform:
- Owner: Mauricio Pérez Valero, sole trader (persona física con actividad empresarial).
- Trading name: Navegabacalar — Escuela de Vela Navegabacalar.
- Address: Av. 1 y Calle 24, Colonia Centro, 77930 Bacalar, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
- Email: navegabacalar@gmail.com
- **WhatsApp:** +52 55 2215 3849
- Website: navegabacalar.mx
2. Purpose of the site
This site presents the activity of Escuela de Vela Navegabacalar on Bacalar Lagoon: in-person dinghy, catamaran, windsurfing and Recreational Boat Skipper courses, an online campus of theory courses, a free sailing simulator, boat rental, team building programmes and camps. It also lets you buy and follow the online courses.
Access to the site is free of charge, except for the campus content reserved for those who have purchased it.
3. Terms of use
By browsing this site you accept these terms. You agree to use it in good faith, without carrying out activities that could damage or overload it or disrupt its normal operation, and without attempting to access restricted areas or other people's accounts.
If you create a campus account, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for the activity carried out from your account. Tell us immediately if you notice unauthorised use.
4. Online courses: purchase terms
- Prices are shown in Mexican pesos (MXN) and include applicable taxes.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. Your card details never pass through our servers.
- Access is granted immediately after payment and is tied to the email address used for the purchase. If you buy before having an account, the course is linked automatically when you create one with that same address.
- Access is personal and non-transferable, granted for an indefinite period while the course remains published in the campus.
- You receive your purchase receipt at the email address provided.
Cancellations and refunds
Because online courses are digital content with immediate access, a purchase cannot be refunded once you have started accessing the content. If access fails because of a technical problem on our side and we cannot fix it, we refund the full amount.
For in-person courses, practice sessions and boat rental, booking, rescheduling and cancellation terms are agreed directly with the school by WhatsApp or email before payment. Sessions called off because of adverse weather or an instructor's safety decision are rescheduled at no cost.
5. Intellectual property
The texts, images, videos, illustrations, the sailing simulator, the course materials and the design of this site belong to Navegabacalar or are used with their owners' permission, and are protected by copyright law.
You may view them and use them personally. Reproduction, distribution, public communication, bulk downloading, resale or modification of the content — course material in particular — is prohibited without prior written permission. Sharing your credentials or campus content with third parties breaches these terms and may lead to access being suspended without refund.
Trade marks, logos and trade names appearing on the site belong to their respective owners.
6. Links to third-party sites
The site may link to external pages (social networks, federations, suppliers). We do not control their content or their privacy practices and accept no responsibility for them.
7. Liability
We aim to keep the published information accurate and up to date, but it may contain errors or omissions, and prices, dates and programmes may change. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the site.
About the training: the online theory courses and the simulator are learning tools. They do not replace supervised practice on the water, and on their own they are neither an official qualification nor an authorisation to skipper a boat. Sailing is a sport with inherent risks: during in-person activities you must follow the school staff's instructions and the safety measures indicated.
8. Data protection and cookies
How we handle personal data collected through this site is set out in our Privacy notice, which also covers cookies and how to manage your consent.
9. Changes
We may amend this legal notice and the terms of use at any time. The applicable version is the one published on this page at the time of your visit or purchase.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
This legal notice is governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. For any dispute, the parties submit to the competent courts of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, unless the law grants the consumer another venue. Consumers may also turn to the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (PROFECO).
